Kathmandu, September 4: The first batch of relief supplies donated by the China Foundation for Rural Development has arrived in Kathmandu to support communities affected by the recent disaster in Nepal.

With the support of China Southern Airlines, the shipment included 175 tents, 1,000 quilts, 1,000 cotton coats, 1,000 emergency humanitarian relief kits and 6,000 medical body bags.

The relief materials, donated by Chinese companies and individuals, weigh around 27 tonnes and are valued at more than one million yuan.

Following their arrival in Kathmandu, the foundation will transport the supplies to the disaster-hit Rasuwa district as directed by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).

The assistance is aimed at meeting the basic needs of affected residents while also supporting local rescue and emergency response teams in handling the remains of victims safely, properly and with dignity.
