KATHMANDU, September 16 : The Filipino organization ‘Iglesia Ni Cristo’ has contributed USD 200,000 to the Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of citizens affected by the recent devastating floods triggered by the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa on August 26 (Bhadra 10).

Representatives of the organization handed over the relief cheque to Minister for Finance Dr. Swarnim Wagle at the Ministry of Finance last Thursday. Expressing his gratitude, Finance Minister Wagle emphasized that bilateral and diplomatic relations between Nepal and the Philippines have remained strong and cordial since their inception, adding that the assistance is crucial for post-disaster relief and reconstruction efforts.

Similarly, the delegation held a meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad Aryal. During the meeting, both sides discussed matters concerning Nepal-Philippines relations, bilateral cooperation, investment, and tourism exchanges.

Prior to the meeting, representatives of the organization, accompanied by media personnel from the Philippines, visited the flood-affected district of Nuwakot to distribute essential relief materials to affected residents.

Additionally, the delegation met with members of the local Filipino community in Nepal and provided over USD 2,000 in cash assistance along with food items and other essential support to flood-affected Filipino nationals in Dhading. Diplomatic relations between Nepal and the Philippines were formally established in 1960.
