Kathmandu, sept 3 — The Government of Myanmar has provided 500,000 in financial assistance and 8 metric tons of pulses and beans to aid Nepal following severe flash floods and landslides that struck Rasuwa District and neighboring areas in northern Nepal on August 26.

A high-level delegation led by Dr. Than Soe, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement of Myanmar, arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport on a Tatmadaw Y-8 aircraft on September 2 to hand over the relief package. They were received by Ambassador U Thant Sin and staff from the Myanmar Embassy in Kathmandu.

During the handover ceremony held later that evening at 5:45 PM, Nepal’s Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun, Member of Parliament Dharmaraj K.C., and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received the donation on behalf of the Government of Nepal.

Deputy Minister Dr. Than Soe stated that the contribution reflects the solidarity and humanitarian support of the Myanmar government and its people. He expressed hope that the aid would strengthen bilateral relations and support the rapid recovery of the affected communities.

Expressing gratitude, Minister Mahabir Pun assured that the funds and essential food items will be efficiently dispatched to the flood-affected communities in Rasuwa and surrounding areas to support ongoing relief operations.
